Allama Iqbal remembered on his 144th birth anniversary







The 144th birth anniversary of the national poet, Allama Iqbal is being observed today across Pakistan to pay homage to his services for the Muslims of the subcontinent. The visionary poet played a vital role in inspiring the Muslims across the subcontinent to seek an independent homeland where they could practice Islam freely.

He conceived the idea of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent, which materialized in the shape of Pakistan.

Popularly known around the world as "Poet of the East”, Iqbal was born in Sialkot in British India on November 9, 1877. He studied in England and Germany, establishing a law practice. However, his major focus was on writing scholarly works on politics, economics, history, philosophy, and religion.

Allama Iqbal was an acclaimed poet and philosopher and his collections of poetry include Zarb-i-Kalim, Bang-i-Dara, Bal-i-Jibril and many more.
