Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s BMW was targeted in a shooting outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening, with the actor subsequently rushing his injured driver to hospital.
According to Gulf News, around five rounds were fired at the car, leaving Shroff’s driver, identified in reports as Firdous Ibrahim Baloch, with a bullet wound to his left wrist. The actor escaped the attack without any gunshot injuries.
Shroff reportedly took the wheel after the shooting and drove to Santacruz Police Station before being escorted by police to Nanavati Hospital to ensure his driver received medical attention.
According to India Today, three people have been arrested in connection with the incident. The reported arrests, along with the gang’s alleged claim of responsibility, form part of the developing investigation.
“A firing incident has been reported under Juhu police station. Actor Tiger Shroff is safe and has not sustained any gunshot injuries. Further investigation is underway,” Mumbai police said in a statement quoted by ANI.
According to The Statesman, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the shooting. Anil Pandit, described in the report as a gang member, allegedly said he had carried out the attack with an accomplice, Harman Sandhu.
A video circulating on social media reportedly showed Shroff moving into the driver’s seat after the incident. His actions prompted praise from social media users, who commended him for helping his injured driver in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.
The reported claim of responsibility has also drawn attention to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which Indian authorities and media reports have linked to several high-profile shootings and killings.
The network has been associated with the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and the 2024 killing of politician Baba Siddique in Mumbai. It has also been linked to a shooting outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra in April 2024.
Other reported incidents include a shooting at a Delhi gym linked to singer Guru Randhawa and multiple firing incidents targeting comedian Kapil Sharma’s café in Canada in 2025.
According to American prosecutors, the Bishnoi organisation operates as a transnational criminal network that uses public claims of violence to intimidate targets and support extortion activities.
Meanwhile, Mumbai police are investigating the shooting and reviewing available evidence to establish the circumstances of the attack and identify those responsible.
