Sonya Hussyn mourns loss of 'manners, class, basic ethics' in today's generation

In a candid conversation with Nadia Khan, Pakistani actor Sonya Hussyn dove into the topic of vanishing etiquette and the diminishing values of manners in contemporary society. Expressing her sentiments, Sonya reflected on a sense of detachment from the current generation, emphasising the decline of qualities such as manners, class, and respectability. The talented star lamented the erosion of basic ethics that were once instilled during childhood, highlighting the importance of teachings about how to interact with women, appropriate conversational topics, and the fundamental principles of addressing elders. Sonya highlighted the rarity of these values in today's society and underscored their significance in her own life. During the conversation, Sonya also shared her concern about the declining sense of respect, particularly towards elders. She expressed her dismay over the scarcity of individuals adhering to traditional values, such as standing up in respect when an elder enters the room. Sonya drew a connection between her deep-rooted appreciation for these values and her upbringing in a family with a rich cultural background. "Sometimes I feel like I don't belong to this generation," said Sonya, "because I feel [qualities like] mannerisms, class, and respectability are decreasing in people. The basic ethics that one is taught in childhood, where one is told how to deal with women, what should or should not be spoken about in front of them, how to speak to elders, getting up in respect when there is an elder - these things are rare. And these things matter to me quite a lot. The family background I am from, nothing amazes me."  As the discussion unfolded, Nadia probed Sonya about her perspective on finding a gentleman in today's world—a figure often read about but seldom encountered. Sonya responded with a sheepish smile, admitting to the challenge of encountering such individuals. Her agreement with Nadia underscored the rarity of the gentlemanly qualities she values in a potential partner. The conversation shed light on Sonya's commitment to preserving and upholding traditional values, portraying her as an advocate for the timeless virtues of manners, respect, and class. The nuanced discussion provided insights into Sonya's unique perspective and her quest for enduring values in an evolving societal landscape. As the dialogue resonated with audiences, it sparked contemplation on the importance of etiquette and respect in fostering a harmonious and culturally rich society. Have something to add?
