Happy birthday to Shah Rukh Khan, and a joyous one it is indeed. Not only is Jawan officially on Netflix for Pakistani fans to consume, but the first official look for Dunki is out as well. Called "Dunki Drop 1," King Khan himself took to X to share the news. "A story of simple and real people trying to fulfil their dreams and desires. Of friendship, love, and being together…Of being in a relationship called home!" penned Shah Rukh on the site formerly known as Twitter. "A heartwarming story by a heartwarming storyteller. It's an honour to be a part of this journey and I hope you all come along with us. The Dunki Drop 1 is here." A story of simple and real people trying to fulfill their dreams and desires. Shah Rukh takes on the role of Hardy, who is seemingly vying for the affection of Manu, essayed by Taapsee Pannu. However, the first drop begins with a haunting sequence, where Shah Rukh's character and a few companions are walking along a desert.  The shot focuses on a skeleton, indicating the dangers of the journey. Another man grabs a gun in the distance and seemingly aims it at the group, eventually pulling the trigger. The teaser then moves into a comedic sequence with a character called Buggu swearing on his grandmother that he will not think about leaving for London, only for the next shot to be one of the family carrying a dead body at a funeral. The teaser also reveals Boman Irani as a part of the cast as Gulati. The star has come to be a staple in many Rajkumar Hirani films. Yet another character called Balli is introduced as well. Vicky takes on the role of Sukhi. In the voiceover, Hardy refers to this group as his family that wishes to travel to London.  At the heart of the teaser, one highlighted theme is that of home. The film seems to dance around the idea of belonging, escape from what is originally one's abode, and, perhaps, discovering what home means to the rag-tag group of people that Hardy calls his family. Inundated with jokes and enough drama to keep one hooked, the offering is set to hit theatres worldwide this Christmas. This would be Shah Rukh's third film in 2023, with his previous two having already broken box office records.  Have something to add? Share it in the comments
